Wearing Accessories

Updated: Feb 9, 2023

All outfits need the right finishing touches

Stylish women have earned their title through ensuring every detail of the outfit is considered. It's an art form as well as a mathematical equation. Bringing your clothing to life through accessorising is like putting together pieces of a puzzle; they all have to be the right fit.

Accessories are the key to the execution of your look. The perfect style delivers a head to toe concept. Every part of you plays a role in the look, including your hair style, your nail color and makeup palette. They should all support the final reveal. All of your accessories represent a piece of the story you are telling with your outfit, they also must represent you and your taste and be able to be worn with most of your wardrobe pieces, attending to all the details will bring the desired look into its own and

make a statement that speaks volumes. Accessories are also your opportunity to take your look from ordinary to extraordinary! Buy accessories you have a connection to, and which

will work with your other accessories too. Accessories will personalise your look. Adding personal details will set you apart from the crowd and stamp your individual flavour onto your outfit.

Where do you start?

When you have completed your vision board and have a strong idea of your concept, start looking at the other components which support and even complete that story, such as:

  • hair style

  • nails

  • make up

  • jewellery

  • bags

  • footwear

  • scarves

  • hats

  • belts

Make a list of the pieces you need to shop for by working through your

garments one by one and developing an idea of what each item needs to

make it work.

What accessories should you be buying?

Accessories don't just serve an aesthetic purpose, they are also very functional. Think about your assets and modesties; accessories can be used as a tool to highlight or conceal. What parts of your body do you want people to look at? Use your accessories to lead the eye towards an asset or to lead the eye away from a problem area. If you dress your assets with bold accessories, this is where people will look. For example:

  • if you want people to look away from your tummy and up to your face, wear bold earrings.

  • if you are looking to elongate your torso and make the broad shoulderline appear narrow, wear long pendant necklaces to draw the eye-inwards and downwards.

Accessories can also be used to hide flaws. For example:

  • use scarves to drape over lumps and bumps.

  • use belts to create the waistline that may not exist there naturally.

  • little heels can lift you up onto your toes, lengthening your leg line.

Accessories can upstage your flaws. The functionality and practicality of

accessories is wonderful, but the most amazing part is they look beautiful!

Add your accessory needs to your list and begin your search.

Personal pieces

Building your collection of accessories is equally as important as building your wardrobe of garments. By selecting pieces that are meaningful to you and represent a piece of your story, you will add a personal energy and your signature to all of your outfits. Collecting these little objects of charmand beauty will be a great adventure. Use your taste to guide you and take home those pieces that speak to you.
